There are two main types of gas cylinder available, Butane and Propane.
(There are also liquid Off-take cylinders for forklift trucks and special types for other automotive uses.)
Essentially, Calor butane comes in our yellow 11.34kg cylinders. They should be used only when they are being stored indoors. This is due to the fact that butane will only vapourise (i.e. the liquid turns to gas) at any temperature above minus 2 degrees celsius, therefore in cold weather if stored outdoors, it will not function. Butane cylinders should be used mainly for mobile heaters or for cooking.
Calor propane comes in a range of storage options e.g. Calor propane is the gas which is stored in a Calor bulk tank, in large red Calor 34kg cylinders and in large green Calor 47kg cylinders and also in our grey Calor 11.34kg Patio gas cylinders. |
